Environmental Sustainability

Our topic has been based around an environmental slogan that we created. We have done the background research about our slogans and we are now in the stages of producing our fence pailings. They look great so far!

To celebrate Greymouth being 150 years old, Grey Main is holding an open day for the community, grandparents and family to come and see what we do in school. Some of the Yr8's are lucky enough to be hosts for the day and they get to dress as children would back in the old days! They look awesome!

Daniel's Writing

My Uncle
You see him walking his dogs at sun rise with a rifle in his hands smoking a fag. He slowly over the years lost all of his hair and losing his breath at the same time. He is a big solid man with lots of tattoos.

He cooks cooked breakfast every morning and he loves his venison sausages. He likes to annoy people a lot and he is the type of person that if he wants something he will do whatever he has to do to get it.
My Uncle is cool.

Lunchtime!

Well done to Kaia who won the homework draw and chose to take Ben to Subway for lunch. You boys were a pleasure to have lunch with!

My Dad By Luke

My Dad has faded gingery brown hair. The deadly wrinkle virus has not reached the surface of his skin. His eyes are a flowing brown liquid glistening in the sun. Stands tall in the clouds and as strong as diamond my dad is indestructible. When doing hard work small waterfalls appear on the surface of his face. Altogether he is a strong tall indestructible Dad.

Carefully he searches along the shelves. searching and searching until he finds what he is looking for. A small label that consumes you by its bribery. It tells you of a chance to win a prize. He makes sure that it is the right one...then grabs it and buys it.

Driving Around looking for kindling. Driving into alley ways and car parks. gathering as much kindling as he can. Arriving home with stacks of wood. Going into the shed and coming out with a  s krill saw. Cutting away at the wood. Opening the door with kindling in one hand and a coal bucket in the other. He fills up the fire and lights it

Laughing and joking around making me embarrassed. My dad loves a good joke and is always so funny. Me and my dad always have play fights. My dad is very funny but can be very embarrassing. My dad means the world to me and he is the best.

BRYCE'S WAR STORY

1914 4th AugustDear DiaryI am on the boat to Gallipoli. I am the furthest from the door. We are about 1 day of shore. I am surrounded by men who have been to war before. This scares me.1914 5th AugustDear DiaryWe are 1 hour off shore I am in my gear; we faced rough sea last night 1 boat nearly sank. I didn’t even know if we were going to make it. I hope I will get another entry tomorrow but for now bye.1914 6th AugustDear DiaryThis was the worst day ever. We were on the boat when we arrived. My friend died off the side of the boat he drowned. I saw the face of the Turks my friends dying around me. It was horrible.1914 7th AugustThis is my last diary entry I will never fight in another war. I consider myself lucky to live.

Tristan's War Story

5th August 1914
England
Black More St
Today I have become General for the New Zealand Army. I’m going to have a meeting with the other generals. I’ve met a general named Joshua McAthur. He’s nice to me because the troops are treating me like poo for the last 5 hours because I have become General.
The air sinks because of the body’s that lay there.
I’ve been attacked by a Nazi. Luckily I had pistol.  I wounded him in the leg and the arm. Blood poured out. I felt safe when I shot but I also felt sad as well.
I’m missing the family lots and lots. Tell Tristan and Byron I’m sorry for telling them I’ll be home by Christmas Eve.
